Critical Object Detection team is responsible for building the best 3D object detection in the world for the AV’s critical objects: pedestrians, bikes, and vehicles. The intern will work closely with the senior engineers in the team to develop new deep learning techniques for improving our detection performance. They will also have the opportunity of collaborating with more teams to learn more about our infra and AV stack and build scalable efficient solutions. Enabling our vehicles to understand the world is critical to our mission and ability to deploy at scale. Our fleet of vehicles provides robust data sets that you can leverage to prototype radically new models and push novel solutions into production.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Explore, prototype, validate, and iterate new models and algorithms
  • Support productizing and deploying solutions to self-driving vehicles
  • Invent pragmatic long term and stable software solutions to complex problems
  • Collaborate with other engineers to come up with creative solutions
  • Create tooling that encourages software engineering best-practices
  • Present results and share learnings across multiple teams

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Pursuing PhD in computer vision, machine learning or a related field with multiple research publications in top conferences or journals.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++
  • Experience using deep-learning frameworks, e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Passionate about self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world

  • Experience in deploying algorithms and models into real-world environments
  • Experience owning or working on Open Source projects
  • Experience working with time series problems

The hourly range for this position is $28.00 - 68.00/hour. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
