About The Role:
We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist to build data systems to help understand our commercial performance and drive action through insights. We are looking for someone who can not only manipulate data but also work effectively with a wide variety of partners involved in our Commercial Operations. This role will report into the Commercial Operations Data & Analytics (CODA) organization.
What you’ll be doing:
- Design, build, launch, and maintain databases, data pipelines, dashboards, reports, and models to help improve AV operations
- Use Looker, Google Cloud, SQL, and Python to pull data and provide analytical insights to solve operational and business problems
- Serve as a dedicated partner to specific Business Unit or function, developing metrics, insights, strategic recommendations, analytical tooling, and concrete initiatives to improve outcomes
- Monitor databases for data integrity and quickly resolve issues using an agile approach
- Set up tests and perform statistical analyses to measure the effectiveness of operational improvements
- Train functional partners on how to use Cruise’s operational data to improve their workflows
What you must have:
- 2+ years of experience analyzing, manipulating, and visualizing large datasets and building databases, models, and data pipelines
- Advanced proficiency in SQL along with significant Python experience
- Self-starter with a bias for action
- Passion for generating new insights from data, including proposed process changes
- Experience using Looker, Tableau, or similar Business Intelligence applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort with ambiguity
- Bachelor’s degree or extensive undergraduate coursework in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related STEM field
- General knowledge of statistics

- Master’s degree in a related field

- Experience in automotive industry, operational environment, or similarly fast-paced technology environment
