The Data Science team is looking for an Intern, Data Science to extract key insights from our massive set of real-world and simulation data. Using these datasets you will help develop and validate predictive and causal models to identify trends and patterns. These models will account for natural variations in on-road exposures as well as incorporating fuzzing/noise injection into simulated data to approximate real-world driving. Using these models you will test statistical hypotheses by quantifying the uncertainties associated with model predictions. The ideal candidate is passionate about discovering new data insights and using innovative ML/statistical solutions to solve novel problems.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

• Develop and validate machine learning (ML) models (including regression and tree based models)
• Rigorously test statistical hypotheses (either with traditional frequentist null hypothesis based approaches and/or Bayesian approaches)
• Query large amounts of structured data for training/test/validation datasets as well as to identify outliers/long tail events
• Work cross-functionally between Systems Engineering and AV Engineering teams to combine mechanistic/first-principles and black box techniques

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

• Experience with statistical hypothesis testing and machine learning model development and validation
• Experience with coding in Python, especially Jupyter notebooks and common analytics packages (such as NumPy and SciPy)
• Experience with SQL or pandas

The salary range for this position is $28.00 - $68.00/hour. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
