Are you a Tableau expert who can deliver stunning dashboards that engage and drive meaningful actions?

Reporting to Moderna’s Associate Director, Data Visualization & Business Enablement, this new position will tackle some of our most impactful and challenging data visualization projects and play an expert-level role in driving the adoption of our platforms and solutions. You’ll develop complex dashboards, iterate on design and requirements with our internal partners and help develop, demonstrate and enforce standard practices. You will co-build and nurture Moderna’s data visualization community, support training events, host office-hours and drive a data-driven culture by empowering people across the company with the skills and inspiration necessary to find, visualize and share insights from data.

This highly visible role is critical to Moderna’s data strategy and will unlock actions and untapped value from our data warehouse across the company by building data-driven culture and increasing speed to insight.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with business partners to understand the business case and lead the design, iterative development and deployment/adoption of high-complexity/high-exposure data visualization solutions
  • Lead the migration to and rebuilding of dashboards in Tableau from our other platforms
  • Coordinate closely with business and Digital analytics leaders to uncover, understand and capture upcoming demand, detail out reporting requirements and anticipate/mitigate potential roadblocks
  • Partner closely with your colleagues in the Data Engineering team on data model design and needs for data visualization projects; roll-up sleeves as necessary to model data yourself
  • Actively drive growth of our new data visualization community and Moderna Tableau User Group including designing and leading trainings, being a company-wide ambassador and serving as an open-door support contact for those that want to explore data
  • Provide expert technical guidance and training for data visualization peers including rapidly finding, understanding and sharing workarounds and solutions to tricky technical data visualization challenges
  • Establish, document, teach and enforce standard company practices for data visualization like style guides, Tableau Online governance, data modeling approach for viz and best practice one-pagers
  • Capture metadata and relationships for our data catalog related to solutions you develop
  • Analyze and monitor delivery process and solution utilization and use metrics to continuously improve operational efficiency and user engagement
  • Manage a portfolio of projects with competing priorities in a wide variety of business domains
  • Be an enterprise thought leader on visualization and data-driven decision making

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • 6+ years of experience developing and delivering top-notch data visualization solutions
  • Expert level skills in Tableau and familiarity in other platforms like Looker and Spotfire; Tableau certification preferred; Data viz work examples and/or Tableau Public profile preferred
  • Impeccable business partnering skills, communication and business savvy to understand context/use cases, ask meaningful questions and deploy solutions company-wide that are adopted and add real value
  • Good ETL, data modeling and data wrangling skills including good understanding of SQL and cloud data warehousing (Redshift/Snowflake)
  • Experience with Alteryx or Dataiku nice to have
  • Deeply motivated to teach, enable and help others
  • Entrepreneurial owner mindset, self-driven with a first principles approach to problem-solving
  • A willingness to challenge the status quo, drive culture change and inspire others to follow
  • Exceptional communication skills and an ability to engage with senior stakeholders in numerous functions across the company
  • Pharma/bio-tech/life sciences experience preferred. Experience in Finance or Commercial preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, Biotechnology or equivalent
