Data Manager Internship

Are you a data centric entrepreneur with a deep understanding of data, analytics, and technology aspiring to drive significant business impact? Procter & Gamble is looking for individuals who are interested in data governance, data management, analytics, and an entrepreneurial attitude. Data is a critical business asset that empowers strategic decisions, integrates into daily operational processes using machine learning / A.I. technologies, and provides vital insights into product innovation, marketing, sales, and product supply. In an era where data growth is outpacing the organization’s ability to get value from it, the Data Management organization is at the heart of driving the required cultural change: maximize value of data in a responsible, secure way. We are looking for a Data Manager to enable P&G business use cases by providing the right data through a state-of-the-art cloud-based architecture.

For this internship, you would be in Cincinnati, Ohio for the duration of the summer.

A full-time employee in this role would perform these responsibilities over the course of a 1.5 - 2 year assignment. As an intern, you will experience a subset of these responsibilities over a 3-month internship:

  • DATA PURCHASE: Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure best class practices in Data Governance are implemented in contracts while also buying data from 3rd parties.
  • DATA SUFFICIENCY: Assess the data sufficiency in terms of timeliness, completeness, and accuracy to be ingested towards the P&G data ecosystem.
  • DATA QUALITY: End-to-end ownership of the data quality across the full data life cycle – starting from data ingestion, through data processing / harmonization up to data activation. Establish business and validation rules that define data quality in a measurable way.
  • DATA INGESTION / HARMONIZATION: Collaborate with Development teams in charge of ETL process to secure highest quality of data.
  • DATA ACTIVATION: Sets success criteria and quality controls for data activities in scope.
  • DATA SECURITY & STEWARDSHIP: Establish proper archival, retention, privacy policies per data type with regards to Data Type Security Requirements.
  • DATA GOVERNANCE: Define data management project scope based on business requirements. Assesses impact of data-related changes (data providers, sources, metrics etc.) on overall project success
  • DATA CATALOG: Implementation of metadata management repositories for a given data domain. Leveraging corporate data catalog solutions and tools.
  • MASTER DATA: Managing the master data for a given domain of data (maintenance of existing definition, managing the mapping rules, enable effective harmonization with other data domains)

Qualifications

  • In process of obtaining a BS or MS/MBA in Library Science, Business/Management Information Systems, Computer/Systems/Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Science, Operations Research or Statistics.
  • Experience with Data Stewardship and Governance, specifically with regards to Data Quality
  • Experience with using data to develop a business plan or idea
  • Experience with analytics tools such as KNIME, Python, Power BI, and Tableau
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to leverage storytelling to influence decisions
  • Strong collaborator and thought leader
  • You must be available during the Summer of 2023 between Mid/ Late May through early August
