Job Description

As a Procurement Data Scientist Intern at Micron Technology Inc., you will be a key member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing and growing Micron’s methods and systems for extracting data and enabling new data to provide new insight for our expanding data streams.

In this role you will be collaborating with other Data Scientists, Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Data Mining teams to design and implement systems to extract data from Micron’s business systems. You will also be responsible for transforming the data into actionable formats and, as needed, creating dynamic presentation layers for use by high-level engineers and managers throughout the company.

Additionally, you will be creating new solutions, as well as supporting, configuring, and enhancing existing solutions.

This role will be a key member of the Technology Development Procurement team that is responsible for supporting Global Category strategies and ensuring Micron’s technology development is supported with the best cost and best performance possible. The successful candidate will have strong analytical and interpersonal skills and supply chain experience.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage projects to conclusion, such as Supplier spend analysis and reporting, Supplier Business Award Process improvement, Cost Per Wafer target improvement.

  • Perform tasks that contribute to the development and enhancement of Procurement Data sources.
  • Interface with IT and other data scientists to resolve issues as they are discovered with automatic data uploads.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis for the Procurement team on spend data.

Required Skills:

Ability to visualize and explain raw data sets into usable conclusions is desired.

  • Must possess excellent written, verbal, presentation and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of lean principles and strong problem-solving skills (Value Stream Mapping, Statistical Process Control, Lean) would be an advantage.
  • Strong personal computer skills (excel, Power Bi, sharepoint).
  • Understanding of Cost of Ownership (CoO) elements desired.
  • Understanding of Procurement functions such as cost savings, target setting, negotiations.
  • Familiarity with Semicondutor Industry/Market.

Experience & Education:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain, Data Science or related business degree.
  • Must be a current student, cannot graduate before September 2024.
