Job Description

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

As a Process Development Engineering Intern in Micron's R&D/Technology Development group, you will work on world-class, state-of-the-art semiconductor processes available in few locations in the entire world. Our leading-edge technology makes features less than 10nm. You will contribute and learn about process module development for memory devices, in addition to other process and process integration related activities! You will work with Micron engineers, technology partners and vendors to develop unit processes that meet device requirements for next-generation semiconductors, integrate processes as part of our team, and ultimately provide technology that transfers to Micron's worldwide manufacturing network. Our process development teams work in the fields of Optical lithography, Plasma Etching, Wet Chemical Processing, Thin Film and Metal depositions, and Chemical-Mechanical Planarization.

As part of this team, Micron is looking for engineers with skills in Data Science. Our modern semiconductor fab can produce billions of bits of data. With individually addressable yield data, Optical Emission Spectra, MEMS Microbalance weight data, In-line RGA, On-board Scatterometry, On-Board Imaging, and many others IoT sources, the possibilities to integrate Engineering + Data Science are endless.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work with engineering teams to develop new processes to meet Moore's Law of Scaling cadence, meet structural and device requirements, and solve integrated yield problems
  • Document and communicate plans, status, and results of R&D projects in written reports and presentations, including the analysis and interpretation of data, and recommendations for future work.
  • Work collaboratively with other Micron engineers and equipment vendors to improve and test new equipment, new chemicals, new process analysis software, and drive process improvements
  • Work in a fast-paced, highly engaging environment with R&D and HVM (high volume manufacturing) partners in globally diverse geographic locations
  • Work hard, play hard, have fun!

Qualifications and Skills include, but not limited to:

  • Degree/Major: M.S. or Ph.D. in EE, ChE, MSE, ME, Chemistry, Physics, or relevant study
  • Experience with, and understanding of surface analysis techniques like XPS, AFM, XRD, AES, EBSD, SIMS etc.
  • In depth knowledge of the fundamentals of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, plasma science, stress-strain engineering, materials systems.
  • Strong understanding of statistics, population analysis, statistical testing methods
  • Ability to solve hard problems using Design of Experiments (DOE) with sophisticated statistical software like JMP, Minitab, Tableau, and others.
  • Data science skills can set you apart:
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting, programming and visualization tools: Python, Java, Tableau, Matlab, Microsoft Suite
  • Data-driven problem-solver - understating of data, good data intuition and data visualization skills
  • Experience or understanding of data collection, warehousing systems, and data cleansing
  • Hands on experience in the field of big data analytics, preferably with experience querying databases
  • You are driven and curious to understand the fundamental mechanism of how things work and the science behind it
  • You are the one that likes to work in the lab
