Job Description

Within the semiconductor fabrication workflow the diffusion and implant (DIFI) group is responsible for chemical vapor deposition, oxidation, implant, and heat treatment processes. As a shift process engineer in the DIFI group you will:

  • Maintain equipment health by verifying correct operation of processes using metrics such as statistical process control (SPC) and sensor readout data.
  • Respond to equipment alarms and faults and take action to prevent them from reoccurring.
  • Ensure wafers fabricated in the DIFI area are meeting specification limits and fine tune reaction conditions based upon data from prior process runs
  • Recognize data patterns to anticipate and prevent future issues
  • Take on projects for continuous improvement of the area. Projects are often related to quality, cost, safety, and tool uptime.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • The ability to use schematic diagrams to troubleshoot systems to components level
  • A strong understanding of reaction kinetics especially pertaining to inorganic chemistry
  • Process controls experience and familiarity with PID controllers
  • Understanding of basic electronic components and semiconductor electric materials
  • Conceptual understanding of fluid mechanics and different types of flow
  • Proven problem skills with a track record of finding and addressing root causes
  • Basic PC skills including MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Positive attitude and a growth mindset
  • Solid time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong communication skills and a ability to work in a group environment
  • Must be flexible to work any shift and rotate shifts as needed. This position requires a rotation between day and night shift every 4 months.
  • Familiarity with data science, SQL, Python, or other computer programing is preferred but not required
  • Prior Diffusion and/or Implant experience is helpful but not required
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physics or equivalent semiconductor industry experience is preferred; however, other engineering or related disciplines may be considered
