Hot Section Engineering is seeking a dynamic individual to be a part of our world-class Durability Engineering team! This candidate will drive the development and execution of comprehensive interval analytics strategies on products ranging from the latest commercial engines to advanced military applications. The candidate will lead and coordinate execution of processes to forecast engine removals & trend removal drivers, all with the objective of building knowledge and actively informing improved engineering processes. The successful candidate will possess impeccable communication skills and the ability to formulate solutions and plans aimed to overcome challenging problems. The candidate will interface to program leadership, working directly with multiple CIPTs. Travel up to 10%.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute comprehensive field hardware & interval analytics strategies to build knowledge and actively inform IPD process and durability lifing system, across a range of gaspath part families.
  • Create and maintain hot section removals database; execute trend analyses of removal drivers; execute removal forecasting analyses.
  • Develop and implement tools, applications, and methods to facilitate interval analytics objectives.
  • Drive automation of part, module and hot section statistical life assessments.
  • Evaluate and implement new methodologies for digitization of part condition data; create and maintain fully digital part condition database, encompassing OEM, in situ, MRO, non-destructive and destructive hardware inspection/evaluation data streams across a range of programs. Define and execute part condition trending analytics.
  • Drive automation of utilization-based life predictions and fleet analytics, considering both released & experimental tools, to enable robust comparisons of actuals (life and/or part condition) to analytical expectations.
  • Enable identification of gaps between Interval Cost predictions and commitments, Analytical Predictions, and Part Condition Actuals.
  • Lead and mentor younger engineers in executing engineering tasks.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience or 3+ years with an advanced degree.
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of gaspath hardware failure modes such as oxidation, creep, corrosion and TMF.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, such as, investment casting, laser and EDM hole drilling, airflow, metallic and ceramic coatings.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership with focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams.
