In this role, you will join a world class team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers within the

Day in The Life

You will work in R&D within the Embedded software team developing software for advanced surgical medical devices. You will extend capabilities of existing devices and drive the data design for multiple new devices that are under development by this software team. You will also interact with software development teams from multiple groups within Medtronic to design and implement both interactive and retrospective data integration.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement, and test databases and interfaces for embedded medical devices
  • Own data design and roadmap across multiple medical devices and related products
  • Optimize solutions for reliability, efficiency and performance
  • Design for data security and authenticity concerns
  • Troubleshoot and identify database and interface issues
  • Create documentation throughout the development process
  • Commit to achieving and exceeding project goals and timelines
  • Perform duties in compliance with the Quality System

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or technically related
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with data storage design on an embedded device or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

Nice to Have

  • 3+ years experience with C++ in a Linux development environment
  • Experience with SQLite or equivalent
  • Experience selecting and tuning file systems and storage management
  • Experience designing and implementing an embedded software logging mechanism
  • Working knowledge of software development best practices
  • Experience with encryption and data protection
  • Experience with IoT architecture and methodologies
  • Background in data science and analytics
  • Medical device experience

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
