Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic person with strong engineering, research, analytical and programming skills to join our team. The position involves research and development of medical devices related to closed loop/ artificial pancreas algorithms and software. The individual will work with members of research staff to implement system simulators and algorithms that aid in the development of our best in class therapies through the application of control theory, mathematical modeling, advanced signal processing, advanced data analytics, machine learning and experimentation. The role will involve all aspects of the research and product development process, including algorithm design and development, data gathering, analysis, validation and implementation. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in the documentation of such systems for regulatory submissions both domestically and internationally. The ideal candidate would have direct experience in control theory, algorithm development, modeling and simulation and data analytics.

A Day in the Life

  • Contribute to artificial pancreas technology innovation and research, technology transfer from research to development, algorithm development, simulation, and modeling
  • Apply principles of control theory, modeling, simulation, signal processing, machine learning, data analytics and to develop algorithms using MATLAB, Simulink (Stateflow) and Python
  • Analyze and quantify large amounts of data to generate verifiable conclusions
  • Identify problem areas and work with the team to gather the experimental data necessary to address these
  • Support complex projects to meet technology performance and schedule objectives
  • Support department functional groups in defining product features and requirements
  • Comply with external and internal regulatory requirements
  • Write detailed technical specifications and scientific reports
  • Apply data analysis results to aid product development decisions and system design

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Education and Years of Experience Required:

  • Bachelors in Engineering – Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering (control theory/signal processing/modeling/analytics focus) or related discipline with 7+ years of industry experience, OR
  • Masters in Engineering – Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering (control theory/signal processing/modeling/analytics focus) or related discipline with 5+ years of industry experience, OR
  • PhD in Engineering – Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering (signal processing/analytics focus) or related discipline with 3+ years of industry experience.

Nice to Have

  • Demonstrated experience with control theory, modeling and simulation, data analytics, statistical analysis, algorithm development, and/or signal processing
  • Proficient in MATLAB and Simulink (Stateflow) programming, Python and/or other signal processing environments including working knowledge of automatic code generation
  • Knowledge of and experience with data science and machine learning
  • Demonstrated understanding of statistical techniques and methods
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas effectively
  • Demonstrated ability in managing/supporting multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
  • Experienced with producing and presenting engineering/technical presentations
  • Demonstrated ability in producing written documentation such as specifications, engineering reports, test plans, test procedures, validation plans, and validation reports
  • Experience in managing software or model configurations
