We have an opportunity for a talented Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Principal / Specialist to join our Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) Commercial Excellence team in a role to provide the key connections to IT, Global Data teams and our commercial Operating Units.

A Day in the Life

Reporting into the Director, Business Development and Strategy, this is an exciting and newly created opportunity, providing the mechanisms to enable all ANZ commercial Operating Unit teams to implement data driven decision making and resource allocation.

This successful individual will be the liaison to the Asia Pacific, Business Intelligence and Data team and will enable key initiatives identified by the ANZ and APAC Commercial Excellence team. He/she will be a business partner providing a point of contact for all commercial Operating Units to initiate, design, co-create and deliver Business Intelligence initiatives that support growth & efficiencies and increase customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing business partnership between all commercial teams, functional teams and the BI and Data team
  • Driving ANZ design input to create reliable, easy to use system, BI and/or analytical tools to sales reporting, market analytics and inventory health analysis
  • Executing analysis through presenting to ANZ / APAC / Global stakeholders
  • Standardizing and simplifying Sales Reporting delivering comprehensive value and a consistent high-quality user experience
  • Developing and maintaining a central repository of data, insights, tools and expertise to enable Operating Units, i.e. OUs (independent of scope and scale of OU) to make data driven decisions (sample)

    • Contract KPIs tracking / ROI analysis
    • Market economics
    • Contract and ROI analysis
  • Training and coaching commercial stakeholders on how to leverage BI tools, reports and insights and how to leverage in meaningful review processes
  • Finding / developing / building / maintaining local data sources to capture key market and customer trends (incl. consistent and timely market share metric).
  • Maintaining reporting system, verifying the accuracy of the data, and acting as liaison with information technology in identifying and resolving problems
  • Understanding complex business challenges, develop hypotheses, integrate internal and external data sources, analyze them using cutting edge machine learning and statistical modelling techniques to uncover causality and synthesizing insights.
  • Assisting CRM enablement and commercial capabilities through developing measurement scheme and its execution for their SFE initiatives.
  • Supporting IT system or technologies launch and replacement with BI requirements delivery.
  • Providing administrative support to the sales function such as preparing sales and/or expense forecasts, budgets, and quotas; coordinating sales meetings; etc.
  • Conducting statistical analysis on sales data and information to ensure optimal sales execution and attainment of growth objectives.
  • Analyzing market competition, e.g. NPI / GTM
  • Translating and visualizing local customer and market insights into actionable insights, e.g. segmentation, profiling and targeting
  • Coaching tools, & reviewing processes to stakeholders in OUs – integrating into commercial capabilities training
  • Closely working with PMO to ensure that all BI initiatives are appropriately entered into the PMO, prioritized and resourced.

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree (or related) in Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistic, Engineering or Science and a minimum of 7 years relevant experience
  • Preferably 3+ years of relevant work experience in BI and Advanced Analytics area.
  • Data analysis skills with ability to understand complex models and business processes.
  • Hands on experience Visualization Tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

Good to Have

  • Salesforce.com Administrator/Advanced Administrator experience and knowledge of Medtronic systems (e.g. SAP)
  • Experiences on Excel, R/Python, Alteryx, SharePoint, etc…
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization
  • Experience in working in large complex BI projects and/or IT system launch project
  • Data science, statistical analysis, ad-hoc advanced analytics, Machine/Deep Learning, AI
  • Experience on data processing tools such as Excel (Pivot), R, Python, Alteryx
  • Experience on SalesForceDotCom (SFDC), Snowflake, SQL basics
  • Strong business acumen and can recognize problems, opportunities and provide value-added business solutions
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple task assignments
  • Communicate various stakeholders effectively with respect to achieve the goals.
  • Fluent in English for business communication / presentation / reporting
  • Experience on biomedical systems or working for medical / pharmaceutical companies
  • Superior sales or marketing experience
