Job Description

As a key member of Medtronic Diabetes’ Closed Loop R&D team, the engineer in this role will engage in several aspects of the research and product development process, including programming and testing algorithm models, statistical analysis and data analytics. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in technical documentation of such systems for regulatory submissions both domestically and internationally. The ideal candidate would have direct experience in programming and data analytics.

A Day in the Life

  • Support the development of next generation closed loop therapy systems by contributing within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Apply data analysis results to aid product development decisions and system design
  • Analyze and quantify large amounts of data to generate verifiable conclusions
  • Apply principles of data and statistical analysis, machine learning, data analytics to develop algorithms and systems using MATLAB and Python
  • Support complex projects to meet technology performance and schedule objectives
  • Comply with external and internal regulatory requirements
  • Write detailed technical and scientific reports, abstracts, and manuscripts.
  • Document and present work products to peers and leadership
  • Have a high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and curiosity; work on multiple projects in a deadline driven environment; possess strong engineering, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced team environment.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • BS in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience

OR

  • Advanced Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 0+ years of experience

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of and experience with data science and machine learning
  • Experience with statistical analysis and modeling of data using state of the art tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python)
  • Data visualization experience through programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python)
  • Experience with control theory, modeling and simulation, and/or signal processing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas effectively
  • Ability to manage/support multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
  • Experience with producing and presenting engineering/technical presentations
  • Experience in managing software or model configurations
  • Ability to write technical documents related to engineering work
  • Knowledge in regulatory submissions and FDA regulations
