The successful applicant will work on Airbus Defence & Space aircraft and will join a team responsible for modelling Combat aircraft aerodynamic characteristics (aerodynamic dataset), having the opportunity to participate in diverse activities as generation of complex and comprehensive aerodynamic models and data on performance, stability & control and loads in steady and unsteady mode, and participate in experimental wind tunnel test campaigns; all of them carried out in the multidisciplinary environment of Flight Physics and in collaboration with specialists of the other international partners involved.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Support to preparation of wind-tunnel and flight test requirements and test programmes;
  • Empirical/Experimental data analysis, modelling of aerodynamic data (by use of handbook methods, in-house tools) and generation of aerodynamic datasets for Stability & Control, Loads and Lift & Drag;
  • Support to the definition of Aerodynamic dataset tolerances;
  • Verification and Validation of Aerodynamic databases;
  • Development, verification and validation of in-house available and/or new tools;
  • Development of Machine Learning methodologies applied to aerodynamic data generation.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering (PhD level in Aerospace Engineering will be valuable);
  • Knowledge and experience in aerodynamic datasets and modelling will be valuable;
  • Knowledge and experience in Machine Learning methodologies will be valuable;
  • Knowledge and experience in wind tunnel test will be valuable;
  • Experiences in aerodynamics, dataset models and Machine Learning methodologies are valued;
  • Good Programming knowledge: Python, Matlab, Fortran
  • Integrity and confidence to speak up;
  • Evident ability to learn and grow fast;
  • Willingness to travel;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, disposition to work in groups;
  • Good analytical capabilities, assertive and stress resilient;
  • Fluent English;
  • German and/or French will be valuable.
