We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our Data Rich Measurements team, within the Analytical Enabling Technologies organization, located in Kenilworth, New Jersey.

You will work with a highly collaborative and motivated team of scientists in our company's Analytical Research and Development primarily on biologics but also across the drug development portfolio including small molecules, vaccines, and emerging modalities. This is a laboratory-based role where you will join a diverse team developing data-rich measurement strategies to enhance drug substance and drug product process development. The individual will serve as a technical expert in applying PAT tools such as vibrational spectroscopy (Raman, FTIR, NIR) and other analyzers (e.g., UPLC, in-line UV) for real-time analytics and process control in support of early-to late-stage bioprocess development.

 Applicants must have effective organizational, multi-tasking, oral / written communications skills, show scientific leadership, and a desire to conduct research and publish. Education Minimum Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or related field with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical/bio-pharmaceutical Industry within chemistry, analytical chemistry or related field, or master’s degree with at least 8 years of experience.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Ability to deliver complex objectives under aggressive timelines in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Demonstrated scientific ability through publications and presentations in scientific conferences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated creativity, and strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work in a team environment with cross-functional interactions is essential.
  • Understanding of vibrational spectroscopy (Raman, FTIR, NIR etc.) spectra interpretation and analysis
  • Working knowledge of liquid chromatography for analysis of proteins and peptides
  • Good knowledge of data-driven qualitative and quantitative chemometric model building approaches

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Established subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Data Rich analytical measurement technology, including process analytical technology
    • Experience in areas such as synthetic/physical organic chemistry, mechanistic/kinetic studies of chemical reactions, continuous monitoring using process analytical tools, or lab automation/informatics.
    • Data Sciences / Data Analytics, including chemometrics, multivariate data analysis, and machine learning
    • Analytical characterization of large molecules and/or antibody drug conjugates
  • Evidence of strong cross-functional collaboration in an academic or industrial setting. 
  • Strong technical aptitude for the development, integration, and implementation of novel process analytical technology.
