Our Quantitative Sciences team use big data to analyze the safety and efficacy claims of our potential medical breakthroughs. We review the quality and reliability of clinical studies using deep scientific knowledge, statistical analysis and high-quality data to support decision making in clinical trials.

This role involves being a technical contributor on our company's own next best action product, which supports our therapeutic area partners in digital, marketing, and sales force effectiveness across the organization. You will be developing and writing code to produce reusable modules for analyses, statistical and ML models while owning deliverables associated with scaling up and scaling out the product by working cross-functionally on a product and scrum team that consists of data scientists, data engineers, ML engineers, release engineers and UX/UI designers.

The best fit for this role is generalist data scientist. The role will support a wide range of possible tasks. These include writing code, tracking tasks from partners from adjacent organizations/teams, and developing ideas on technical enhancements/investments. You will be expected to provide value on activities related to descriptive statistics, data visualization, machine learning and advanced statistical models. Sometimes you will leverage your skills to build something from scratch, and sometimes you will be working from an existing prototype. This will involve understanding essential statistical and programming methods that ensure low bias models and parameterizing and modularizing code to support future module scalability and efficiency.

Model development and deployment will occur in the cloud, and we’ll look for the appropriate experience. You don’t have to be an expert in any of the potential areas of data science and engineering, but need to be able to demonstrate aptitude, willingness to execute, and an ability to problem solve independently. We will have resources that you can leverage as needed. This role will require interfacing with executive and business stakeholders, so strong communication skills is highly desired.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Select statistical, machine learning, optimization techniques to solve business problems and support the product leads in prioritizing what to build and setting realistic goals for execution
• Enable delivery of data-analytics projects. Gain deep knowledge of the company's supported technology; understand the whole complexity/dependencies between multiple teams, platforms (people, technologies)
• You will influence product strategy and investment decisions with data, be focused on impact
• Ensures best practices sharing and across the organization
• You will tell data driven stories to our stakeholders, partners, and users
• Able to work functionally in the matrix setup
• Monitor new trends and methodologies being implemented and to be considered within the product ecosystem
• Contribute to innovative experiments, specifically to idea generation, idea incubation and/or experimentation, identifying tangible and measurable criteria.
• Establish and manages the close relationship with customers/stakeholders.

Education Minimum Requirements:

• BA degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related quantitative field
• MS or PhD in a quantitative field

Required Experience and Skills:

• 2-3 years experience in applied machine learning, statistical inference to small and large datasets
• 2-3 years experience with scripting languages (e.g. python) and OOP
• 2-3 years experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL)
• 2 years experience on the cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Self-motivation, proactivity, and ability to work independently with minimum direction
• Strong business acumen, with aptitude to understand business processes in detail
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with a track record of experience communicating appropriately and confidently with colleagues from different backgrounds and seniority levels

Preferred Experience and Skills:

Coding:

• Scripting language experience
• Some Experience with deploying to cloud-based infrastructure; AWS, Heroku, Cloud Foundry, Databricks, DataIku

Delivery:

• Experiences with project management and data analytics project delivery
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with stakeholders and distill advanced concepts in a simple manner
• Proven experience with identifying risks of utilizing different analytics and machine learning approaches
