Job Description

We are seeking a driven and analytically minded Data Scientist with a strong data science foundation and expertise in machine learning and artificial intelligence. The ideal candidate will be a bridge between the intricate world of data analytics and the real-world challenges of the insurance sector. You will engage in advanced modeling and analytical techniques to provide critical insights and drive data-driven strategic decisions. You will also contribute responsible, trustworthy and safe use of AI and ML solutions throughout the organization.

Essential Functions:

Data Analysis and Exploratory: Perform exploratory data analysis to understand the nuances, patterns, and anomalies within the data. Draw meaningful conclusions from raw data sources, preparing them for modeling. Modeling and R&D: Develop, validate, and deploy machine learning, statistical, and AI models to predict, classify, and optimize various business outcomes. Solution and System Design: Design end-to-end solutions and systems that transform raw data into actionable business insights. Project Planning & Leadership: Drive assigned projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, demonstrating leadership and a team-first attitude. Domain Expertise: Stay updated with the latest trends in the insurance sector. Use this knowledge to ensure that the solutions designed are relevant and timely. Communication: Articulate findings, insights, and recommendations to peers, managers, and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. Software Engineering & Data Engineering: Implement robust and scalable solutions. Work closely with the data engineering team to automate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.

Requirements:

  • A Master’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field and at least 2 years of relevant work experience or a PhD in these fields with 0 years of work experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience with and solid proficiency in machine learning techniques and predictive modeling
  • 2+ years’ experience with and solid proficiency in a programming language such as Python, R, and SQL.
  • 1+ years’ experience with machine learning frameworks and tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, etc.

Preferred:

  • A PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field.
  • Familiarity with responsible/ethical use of AI and machine learning.
  • Experience with workflow design and its automation.
  • Experience with SharePoint Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Experience with Azure, Databricks, Realtime deployment, Kubernetes, and cloud-based services such as AWS or Microsoft Azure are a plus
