Responsibilities

Strong communication and presentation skills are required. Candidates should be self-motivated and possess the interpersonal skills necessary to work with others in a team environment. Candidates with a demonstrated ability to problem solve and publish technical research outcomes are highly desired.

Preference will be given to candidates with technical expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Machine learning experience with frameworks such as Pytorch or Keras highly recommended.
  • Experience with anomaly detection, especially with respect to spatio-temporal measurements.
  • Experience with gamma and neutron radiation detection systems: setup, operation, and analysis of time-series measurements from these instruments. An understanding of background radiation in several scenarios is recommended.
  • Experience with hyperspectral and/or multi-spectral data
  • Simulating radiation transport: Monte Carlo approaches such as MCNP6 or GEANT4; Deterministic approaches such as ATTILA; experience with variance reduction techniques is also welcome.
  • Experience with image reconstruction from computed tomography or transmission tomography.
  • Software tools: data analysis and coding packages such as ROOT, C++, C#, Python, Jupyter, Java.
  • Experience in data acquisition development and embedded systems.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant fields of study include physics, engineering (nuclear, mechanical, chemical, electrical), material science, chemistry, mathematics, data science, or related field.
