What to Expect

The Tesla Robotics Team designs and builds humanoid bi-pedal robots (Tesla Bot) to perform tasks that are boring, repetitive, and dangerous for humans. The team joins mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and manufacturing engineering disciplines in a highly collaborative team.

We are seeking talented specialists to play a role in building this ambitious vision into reality. There will be an emphasis on creative problem-solving abilities and technical rigor for this role.

What You’ll Do

• Run daily hardware inspections on robot fleet. Assist with daily regression tests to funnel and track hardware and firmware issues
• Responsible for rapid issue identification, diagnosis, and root-cause analysis across structures, actuators, controllers, harness, sensors, firmware
• Includes reviewing clips and CAN data (using CANAPE/PCAN Explorer), running robot routines
• Includes electronics debugging via scoping, soldering, probing, etc.
• Record issues and track trends for product fleet over long-term
• Report metrics to design engineering to inform design improvements
• Initiate repair requests with technician team or escalate to engineering to find solutions
• Validate repairs once complete by running robot routines
• Build up product service manual by documenting diagnosis and repair procedures

What You’ll Bring

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics or equivalent industry experience. 
• Proficiency in product-level issue diagnosis and root-cause analysis
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing hardware systems
• Familiarity with debugging tools such as multimeters, soldering tools and oscilloscopes.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment

Expected Compensation

$80,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
