Tesla is seeking a talented and dynamic Data Scientist to join our Global Service Supply Chain team, focusing on enhancing and revolutionizing the Statistical Forecasting Process and Models for our Vehicle Business Unit's Service Parts and Accessories. This pivotal role involves identifying inefficiencies in our current forecasting methods and spearheading the adoption of innovative, state-of-the-art techniques to elevate forecast accuracy across various key commodities. As a vital contributor to Tesla's commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our service supply chain, directly impacting customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop time series forecasting models to improve both short-term and long-term statistical demand forecasts for Tesla's service parts and accessories, helping optimize inventory across global distribution centers and service centers
  • Implement advanced algorithms and models for in-depth analysis of Tesla’s service repair and accessories sales data, including Time-to-Fail and Mileage-to-Fail forecasting, to enhance service demand planning and support Tesla’s Service Supply Chain Network expansion
  • Collaborate with the Reliability, Vehicle Software and Service Diagnostics Team to integrate fleet diagnostic data into the service forecasting process, improving prediction of part failures
  • Communicate statistical findings to Demand Planning, Supply Chain, Engineering Teams, and Service Leadership, offering key insights for strategic decision-making in the Service Supply Chain
  • Work with IT Systems and Applications Teams to enhance and automate the Statistical Forecasting Process in Demand Planning and other service applications
  • Continuously improve the Statistical Forecasting Process through rigorous statistical testing and by embracing new technologies in statistical analysis
  • Drive continuous improvements and innovations within the Service Supply Chain through strong mathematical and statistical knowledge, and an open-minded, collaborative approach

What You’ll Bring

  • Master’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated expertise in mathematical and statistical analysis, particularly in supply chain or operations analytics, with the ability to interpret and draw conclusions from large data sets
  • Proficiency in Python and a solid understanding of machine learning and deep learning models
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapt to changing scopes, and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong communication skills, high energy, and passion for positively influencing others and driving change
  • Open-minded, team-oriented, with creative problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and hands-on approach to work

Expected Compensation

$76,000 - $276,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
