Data Scientist Senior Advisor

For the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs & Border Protection (CBP), GDIT supports programs and projects to improve trade business processes, and enhance data analysis and availability. GDIT is excited to offer you a unique opportunity to join our team to help lay out a strategic roadmap that identifies analytics the organization can build to leverage data assets in the organization.

GDIT is seeking highly motivated Data Scientist to join our growing team to define and support our mission-critical programs for our DHS customer. The successful candidate(s) will provide support and insights to help our client turn data into action. Your work will provide transformative solutions to our clients' big-data obstacles and help advance the mission. You will support the investigation of complex unstructured and semi-structured data to provide innovative solutions that help improve the customer's accuracy, efficiency, and costs by giving them better control of their processes and data to support critical decisions.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets
• Identify relevant data sources to satisfy analytic requirements
• Use large data sets to discover relationships between disparate sources
• Create and tune data models
• Collecting data through means such as analyzing business results or by setting up and managing new studies
• Transferring data into a new format to make it more appropriate for analysis
• Creating new, experimental frameworks to collect data
• Building tools to automate data collection
• Searching through large data sets for usable information
• Creating reports and presentations for business uses
• Correlating similar data to find actionable results

Required Skills / Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizenship
• DHS CBP BI full adjudication required
• USCIS or ICE clearances will be considered
• Master's degree (MA or MS) and 10+ years related experience
• Exceptional technical writing skills
• Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way
• Ability to visualize data in the most effective way possible for a given project or study
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with data management tools
• Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds
• Excellent attention to detail

The likely salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
