Job Description

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

• Serves as the senior SME for architecting and delivering cloud and on-prem hosting solutions.
• Provides senior expertise to teams for application migration/modernization assessments.
• Provide recommendations to optimize cloud usage costs by analyzing usage patterns and trends.
• Leads assessments that include cloud deployment type (public/hybrid), cloud provider (AWS, Azure, and Google), OS, COTS, codebase, database, cloud services, application dependencies, disaster resilience requirements.
• Maintain an understanding of advancing cloud capabilities, IT, and business needs, while identifying and proposing cost and functional efficiency options for ED’s collaborative decisions and actions.
• Create and maintain a roadmap of enhancements according to the customer’s decisions and directions.
• Provide expertise in high availability, contingency planning, and automated provisioning.
• Help agency rationalize, architect, and plan application/system migration.
• Leads annual architecture review with critical design recommendations.
• Continuously analyze, research, identify, and recommend the most effective and efficient application of technology to meet ED’s mission requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

7+ years' experience providing technical leadership around architecture, cybersecurity, and deployment strategies for solutions in Hyperscaler Cloud Provider platforms.

Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or Engineering disciplines.

One or more of the following Certifications:

• Google GCP
• Google Professional Cloud Architect
• Google Professional Cloud Database Engineer
• Google Professional Cloud Developer
• Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer
• Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer
• Google Professional Cloud Network Engineer
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
• AWS Certified Security – Specialty
• AWS Certified Big Data– Specialty
• AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty
• AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty
• AWS Certified Alexa Skill Builder – Specialty.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert
• Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert
• Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert
• Security Clearance Level:

• Must be able to pass a government security investigation for High Risk Public Trust suitability. (US citizenship is required to pass this investigation.)

• Preferred:

• 2+ years working within a development team, delivering cloud services & solutions, and provisioning/automating infrastructure, services, and enterprise management tools.

• Location:

• Remote, with an estimated 10-20% travel to Washington, DC.
