Job Description

The Reverse Forecasting and Analysis Manager will work within the Products and Supply Chain (P&SC) organization to use a data-driven, analytically curious approach to shape and redefine the future of Reverse Forecasting at TMUS. Statistical and analytical thinking combined with experience in solving operational problems will be applied to various forecasting situations for the supply and demand component of reverse logistics (finished) goods. Predictive models will be built, tested evaluated and improved using various data driven techniques. All facets of the forecasts will be explained and communicated to all levels of the organization (including Directors and SVPs from all channels of the company).

*The possible locations for this role are either Coppell, TX or Bellevue, WA.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement robust, efficient, and scalable operational forecasting models in SAS and Python applicable to devices in the Reverse space
  • Analyze performance of predictive forecast models and quickly identify root cause of over or underperformance
  • Quantify impacts of very complex multi-faceted marketing promotions on device trade-ins
  • Clearly communicate forecast assumptions and drivers to partners utilizing the forecasts to drive purchase, repair, and liquidation activities
  • Quantify impacts of supply disruptions, product issues, creative financing options for customers, and consumer sentiment on device sales and impacts to trade-ins and returns

Qualifications:

Minimum required:

  • 4+ years applying statistical modeling in an operations environment, preferably in supply chain for a retail organization
  • Strong programming experience with SAS, R, Python or other statistical software utilized to create SKU level forecasting models for multiple channels
  • Experience creating accurate time-series forecasts both from scratch and using packaged forecasting software 
  • Proven ability to quantitatively evaluate forecast accuracy and make appropriate adjustments to reduce error
  • Proficient at gathering and manipulating large datasets
  • Strong SQL and Excel skills
  • Strong statistical background, with an emphasis in predictive modeling for finished-reverse goods forecasting
  • Solid communication skills

Preferred:

  • Experience in systems implementation and forecasting new product introductions a plus
  • Proficiency in applying machine learning techniques to forecasting problems
  • Able to handle high level of ambiguity and understand very complex Promotional Structures and impacts to the reverse logistics space
  • Proactive in anticipating and preempting potential problems

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Emphasis in Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Decision/Computational Science, or other similar fields
  • 4+ years’ experience with a master’s degree optional
