Job Description

This is an exciting, new role in T-Mobile’s Compliance & Ethics Program, located in our Legal Affairs department The Compliance Data Scientist will lead the data compliance program, including driving the development of analytics strategy, creating and maintaining data pipeline architecture, delivering and supporting data analytics solutions, and partnering with legal, compliance, and business leaders to formulate and execute a data-driven approach (e.g., advanced visualizations) to improve risk and performance monitoring in the compliance program. You will provide insights and partner with senior leaders and stakeholders to proactively identify and mitigate risk and to measure program effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have experience in the application of analytic techniques to enterprise and compliance-related risks.

If so, T-Mobile has a fantastic opportunity to work in a Compliance Data Scientist role in the Legal Compliance group in our Bellevue, WA, Frisco, TX, Overland Park, KS, or Reston, VA offices.

What you’ll do in your role.

  • Drive the development and execution of T-Mobile’s compliance and ethics data program
  • Extract, prepare and model large, complex data sets using a combination of skills, including machine learning theory, mathematics, statistics, and programming
  • Create and apply logical and physical data models, data modeling methodologies, metadata management, master data management & data lineage techniques
  • Partner with T-Mobile stakeholders to leverage predictive analytics, machine learning, and other advance data science capabilities to enable compliance insights
  • Provide business intelligence, analysis, and data related compliance information in support of the development, implementation and refinement of regulatory and compliance policies, programs, processes, and tools
  • Design analytics and business intelligence solutions to drive insight and support risk assessment, monitoring, and other compliance activities
  • Design and implement interactive dashboards leveraging visualization
  • Responsible for developing, testing, and implementing scalable analytical and reporting solutions leveraging SQL, Spotfire and other tools
  • Provide operational support for initiatives across a range of technical and non-technical topics
  • Communicate technical topics to non-technical audience by effectively employing clear and structured communication
  • Proactively identify opportunities and provide analytics-based insights with actionable recommendations and innovative new tools across the compliance organization
  • Other duties as assigned

The experience you’ll bring.

Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Computer Science or Information Systems
  • 1-3 years’ experience with data curation, ETL process, managing and supporting complex data pipelines
  • 1-3 years industry experience in predictive modeling, data science, and analysis in an ML engineer or data scientist role
  • 2-4 years’s experience with data scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R)
  • 2-4 years’ experience in data visualization, leveraging Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik and/or Spotfire,
  • Demonstrated ability to manage key stakeholder relationships and influence senior leaders
  • Strong business acumen with broad understanding of business operations
  • Superior communication, organization, presentation, and data visualization skills

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (math, statistics, economics, computer science)
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive internal and external stakeholders to a decision in a matrixed corporate environment
  • Ability to generate and execute on creative ideas to the compliance program
  • Excellent project management and time management skills
  • Ability to tailor content, presentation, and language to various audiences
  • Actively embraces new ways of thinking and practices that increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Experience leveraging analytics to address compliance risks
  • Expert proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with the telecommunications industry and/or other large technology-related industry companies with an international presence
  • Experience driving complex projects to a successful, timely completion
  • Wireless/telecom experience a plus
  • Experience working with legal partners a plus
