The Department of Environmental Medicine and Public Health and the Institute for Exposomic Research at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai seek a biostatistician with interests in exposure science and environmental epidemiology. The department is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

The candidate will join a growing team that develops hyperlocal local, national, and international spatiotemporal machine-learning-based models for environmental determinants of health, such as air pollution, climate related covariates, and built environment, that can be used for studies of their health effects. This position fits a candidate with strong quantitative background and programming skills, especially in R. Knowledge of state-of-the-art methods in biostatistics and machine learning algorithms are a plus.

Duties and responsibilities may include:

  • Data collections, cleaning, and processing
  • Carry out statistical analyses
  • Apply novel statistical approaches
  • Collaborate with scientists with different background
  • Write scientific manuscripts 

Requirements:

  • MS or PhD in biostatistics, data science or related fields
  • Good communication and writing skills
  • Good analytical and computational skills
  • Ability to work on concurrent projects
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong work ethic
  • 1 year of biostatistics or related experience in clinical research preferred.
