The Charles Bronfman Institute for Personalized Medicine (CBIPM) brings together a group of experts in the clinical and biological data sciences committed to exploring the nature of human disease through cohort studies. We carry out these studies at scale in clinics, emergency rooms, and inpatient units within the Mount Sinai Health System.
The institute collaboratively and rapidly translates key discoveries into experimental interventions and new standards of care. We aim to position Mount Sinai at the forefront of data-driven clinical care by creating a landscape where every patient can be a research participant, clinical decisions are data-driven, and care is continuously optimized.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Research Laboratory Supervisor, Charney Lab, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York City. The Research Laboratory Supervisor will lead efforts to oversee research projects and support collaborations within CBIPM within the laboratory of Alexander Charney, MD, PhD, Co-Director, CBIPM, Associate Professor, Genetics and Genomic Sciences, Psychiatry, Neuroscience, and Neurosurgery. Reporting directly to the Laboratory Manager for CBIPM, the Research Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for the Charney lab project portfolio which includes several complex and multi-faceted efforts, including multiple NIH-funded programs. The incumbent will be responsible for fully supporting the development and execution of research strategies in collaboration with key team members and will play a key role in fostering the growth of the research program and contributing to new science.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Fibroblast Tissue Culture
Generating CRISPR experiments
QA/QC of DNA or RNA samples using qubit, nanodrop, or bioanalyzer systems
Large sample quantity management and tracking
Tracking and storing samples using LIMS
10x Single-Cell GEM Generation and Library Preparation
DNA and RNA extraction
Processing CPT, SST, and Tempus blood vacutainers
Genotype Validation using Sanger Sequencing
Primary responsibilities include:
Qualifications:
Graduate degree in science
2+ years of academic job experience
Job or research experience in data science and/or genomics
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or related field.
Basic laboratory skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively, communicate clearly, and accomplish goals.
Pristine attention to detail and ability to manage time appropriately, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Effective interpersonal skills, able to establish good working relationships and collaborate with networks of employees at all levels, able to foster cooperation in others.
