Job Description
Fidelity Investments is looking for a Quantitative Equity Research Analyst to join the Equity Quantitative team – a part of the Quantitative Research & Investments (QRI) division. In this role, the analyst will partner with fundamental Equity portfolio managers to provide quantitative alpha generation, portfolio construction, and risk management analytics.
Primary responsibilities
- Building quantitative factors and models through idea generation and empirical analysis to facilitate the research process of fundamental portfolio managers
- Investigating large structured as well as novel data sources to generate alpha
- Enhancing the investment process by investigating techniques to improve portfolio construction and optimization, evaluating risk characteristics, and conducting portfolio analysis and attribution
- Helping fundamental investors understand how various market environments influence the impact of quantitative factors on fund performance
- Actively contributing to the team’s research agenda and taking responsibility for research projects, as well as publishing and distributing research internally
Qualifications
We are seeking individuals who have the following characteristics:
- 5+ years of experience in quantitative equity research
- Deep understanding of mathematics and statistics and hands-on programming skills, along with a passion for investing in the financial markets
- Relevant experience with multi-factor alpha models, risk models, and portfolio construction
- Proficiency with programming languages and statistical software (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, SQL, VBA, Tableau)
- Deep knowledge of various financial and economic databases, such as Compustat, Worldscope, IBES etc. Experience with financial packages and portfolio optimization tools (e.g., FactSet, Bloomberg, Barra)
- Advanced degree in finance, quantitative economics, computer science, math, or the physical sciences; Master’s in quantitative finance or MBA preferred
- Ability to think independently with good economic intuition as well as strong presentation and communication skills
