Job Description

As an integral part of the Quantitative Research and Investing (QRI) group, the Quant Research Platform team is responsible for delivering a cutting-edge research environment to our quant research teams, ensuring they have the data and tools to efficiently uncover new sources of alpha. This highly specialized team builds frameworks and toolkits for quant research, and supports a unified, cross-asset data layer covering both proprietary and vendor datasets.

In your role as Product Owner, you will partner with a technology team to deliver a functional programming framework for quant research which allows researchers to share code, data, and alpha sources efficiently. You will work with quant research leaders and technical experts to design the solution and project manage your partners within an agile framework. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of new features in the data layer, further supporting the vision of delivering a high-level environment in which quant strategies can be expressed and evaluated efficiently.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring:

• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or finance.
• 7+ years of product ownership, technical project management, and/or software engineering management experience in financial applications.
• Demonstrable track record working in Scrum environments, defining epics and stories, partnering with agile teams, and producing industry best-practices agile artifacts.
• Direct exposure to modern quant research processes at leading firm(s), including factor and model building, alt dataset alpha mining, and productionalization.
• Track record of delivering technology solutions in a product ownership role to meet complex requirements across disparate userbases in a financial domain.
• Fluency in functional programming paradigms.
• Highly skilled in product ownership delivering platform technologies in financial domains
• Expertise partnering with technical teams in agile environments
• Working understanding of quant research processes, with exposure to factor and model building, data exploration, and alpha mining
• Experience with domain-specific functional programming frameworks
• Experience with data science tools in Python (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn)
• Highly analytical with an understanding of software design principles and architecture, as well as the skill set to shape user requests effectively and translate them into technical requirements
• Highly proactive and self-motivated with the ability to meet objectives under minimal supervision.

• Develop accurate roadmaps, applying your background in technical product ownership and platform delivery to balance the needs of clients against our technical resources
• Anticipate client needs through effective partnership with research teams, helping to shape their asks to better align with technical capabilities and our roadmap.
• Help management understand your team’s progress and roadmap, and vision for the end-state quant research environment
• Supply product ownership support to ongoing feature development in the data layer
