The Role

The Quantitative Analyst position offers a valuable opportunity to learn and excel within the Fidelity Institutional Wealth Adviser (FIWA) Portfolio Engineering team. FIWA Portfolio Engineering develops and manages innovative investment solutions for intermediary clients. As a member of this team, you will play a key role in developing highly scalable investment processes, assisting with portfolio management duties for custom model portfolios, and representing FIWA’s investment process, team, and capabilities.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, implementing, and scaling multi-asset, multi-manager, and multi-vehicle (e.g., mutual fund, exchange-traded funds, separately managed accounts) custom investment solutions for intermediary clients. You will work with various internal teams and external clients to determine scalable design criteria and investment mandates. You will be involved in the end-to-end portfolio management process, including the following: establishing an investment objective, formulating optimal strategic allocation mixes, selecting high-conviction managers across investment types and vehicles, and applying tactical allocation processes (as applicable). You will leverage portfolio construction tools to conduct advanced modeling of traditional and nontraditional asset classes.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics, engineering, computer science, finance, or another quantitative field required.
  • Master’s and/or CFA credential preferred (or progressing towards CFA charter).
  • 5+ years of quantitative research and/or portfolio construction experience. Private markets experience a plus.
  • Experience with and knowledge of portfolio optimization methods and risk models.
  • Demonstrated experience, interest, and skill in quantitative analysis and research.
  • Strong quantitative and coding skills with the ability to think analytically, communicate clearly, and work collaboratively within a diverse team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for working in a team environment.
  • Strong communication/presentation skills and ability to translate complex quantitative analysis into meaningful and applicable investment solutions.
  • Working experience with any statistical software packages (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB), Excel, and SQL and familiarity with databases/big data sets.
  • Series 7 and 63 highly preferred, or willingness to acquire within business unit guidelines.

FIWA Portfolio Engineering partners with other teams within Fidelity to develop superior investment solutions for intermediary clients. We engage in a wide variety of innovation efforts within FIWA and across Fidelity, such as providing guidance on the development of next generation portfolio construction tools. We also publish new investment thought leadership articles on topics such as portfolio construction.
