When you think of commerce at Spotify, you might think of the millions of subscribers purchasing Premium subscriptions, but this is just the beginning! Spotify is diversifying: audiobooks, artist merchandise, podcast advertising and many others. These require new ways of delivering goods and services, taking money and passing it out. We are building the commerce platform that does this.

As a Senior Data Scientist in the product insights team, you will drive the understanding of our users and products, creating and communicating insights to inform the entire product development cycle, as well as being a technical lead and mentor for the team

What You'll Do

  • Influence product strategy with foundational analysis
  • Drive prioritisation by estimating impact of potential product changes, and creating frameworks to align interested parties
  • Define metric frameworks and partner with engineering to instrument our product. Building systems and practices that allow us to monitor progress at scale efficiently
  • Partner with product managers, user researchers and design to create & communicate insights that directly drive major product decisions
  • Identify the most suitable insights methods (exploratory data analysis, experimentation, causal inference, regression methods, ML etc.) to support all stages of product development cycle (from ideation to shipping/ optimisation)
  • Drive experimentation adoption and tooling in partnership with product teams
  • Partner with user researchers to combine qualitative and quantitative insights into more powerful and compelling stories - understanding the what and the why

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of professional experience in data science or related fields
  • You can wrangle data & create visualisations. Methods include: querying large datasets (SQL, BigQuery), coding skills (R, Python), analytics & visualisation libraries (e.g. pandas, tidyverse, seaborn, ggplot), visualisation tools (Looker)
  • You use statistics to drive business decisions. Methods include: success metrics, a/b testing, determining statistical significance and communicating findings with clear product recommendations or implications
  • You value building strong relationships with colleagues and partners and enjoy mentoring and teaching others. You bring passion and playfulness to your work and those around you
