The Freemium R&D team oversees the entire user journey on Spotify and ensures we engage with people in innovative ways, every step of the way. Our team grows Spotify’s audience by finding future listeners around the world and delivering the right value to them, at the right time. This role is part of a new product innovation team that is responsible for identifying user needs across global markets and building new product offerings to meet them. As a Senior Data Scientist, your role is to drive insights work to inform product innovation in an ambiguous space, building a deep understanding of users' problems and turning data into insights to inform and influence the development of new products.

Together with your teammates (other data scientists and user researchers), you will help drive our ambitious goals, driving the next phase of Spotify's meteoric growth!

What You'll Do

  • Perform analysis on large sets of data to extract practical insights that will help to prioritise product, platform, and business decisions
  • Tackle problems and bring valuable insights to product teams by applying math and a range of statistical techniques
  • Design and conduct A/B tests to drive iterative improvement to both user and product metrics through efficient experimentation

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of professional experience in data science or related fields
  • Understanding of product development, and how to influence it with data analysis
  • You are a storyteller, a communicative person that values building positive relationships with colleagues and team members and have the ability to explain sophisticated topics in simple terms
  • You have strong technical skills in data manipulation and extraction (strong SQL knowledge), data analysis and model prototyping and productionisation (Python, R or similar)Have a sound understanding of statistics
  • You’re a self-starter - you can independently drive a team’s work forward, finding and exploiting opportunities where data science can impact our product/business objectives
  • You are comfortable running the full lifecycle of a DS project, from ambiguous needs and stakeholders to data preparation, analysis, recommendations and beyond
  • Knowledge in segmentation, metric setting and experience working with user research is a plus
