We are looking for a Senior User Researcher to join the Insights Platform at Spotify. The Insights Platform builds internal tools to help our employees answer their questions using data.

As a Senior User Researcher, you will help the Insights Platform understand our customers, who are also our colleagues: everyone who interacts with tools for data visualization, analysis, and discovery at Spotify. You will build a deep understanding of our users' needs, goals and workflows, turning qualitative user research into insights and artifacts which will shape the future of our products. Together with your teammates, you will ensure we are building a platform that empowers everyone at Spotify to make rapid, data-informed, empathic decisions.

What You’ll Do

  • Work closely with a cross-functional, geographically distributed team of data scientists, user researchers, product managers, designers and engineers across New York, Stockholm and London
  • Define, plan, and conduct exploratory user research, including supporting the work of less experienced colleagues
  • Apply rigorous analysis to understand and document complex workflows and processes
  • Deliver compelling insights, stories and artifacts to help drive evidence-based product and design decisions
  • Develop and innovate on our mixed-methods user research practice and contribute to the wider Insights community at Spotify

Who You Are

  • You have proven experience in user research, with significant expertise in either exploratory qualitative research to identify needs and problems or workflow and task analysis (or both!)
  • You hold a degree in psychology, human-computer interaction, or a related field, and/or relevant professional experience
  • You are comfortable with planning, prioritizing, conducting, analyzing and communicating research in a variety of contexts
  • You are familiar with quantitative research methods, utilizing metrics and A/B tests, and able to synthesise quantitative data with qualitative data
  • You are a dedicated advocate of a user-centered, evidence-based approach to product development, while balancing business needs

Where You'll Be

  • We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
  • Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the Americasregion in which we have a work location and is within working hours.
  • Working hours? We operate within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration and ask that all be located that time zone.
  • Prefer an office to work from home instead? Not a problem! We have plenty of options for your working preferences. Find more information about our Work From Anywhere options here.

Our global benefits

  • Extensive learning opportunities, through our dedicated team, GreenHouse.
  • Flexible share incentives letting you choose how you share in our success.
  • Global parental leave, six months off - fully paid - for all new parents.
  • All The Feels, our employee assistance program and self-care hub.
  • Flexible public holidays, swap days off according to your values and beliefs.
  • Spotify On Tour, join your colleagues on trips to industry festivals and events.
