We are looking for a Data Science Manager to lead and grow a team within our Content & Monetization pillar in the B2B Podcast Platform tribe. This team owns and develops the core technology that powers our Megaphone and Spotify Audience Network (SPAN) products. These products distribute podcasts for a third of the world’s podcast consumption and reach half of podcast listeners in the US. Our mission is to simplify the business behind podcast creation and ultimately power the economy behind a medium that we love!

The data science opportunities behind this mission span a breadth of challenges and are critical to our success. From creating a great user experience in our Content Management System, to optimizing delivery within our ad server, there are many ways for our team to have impact. This role will be a partner with our cross functional teams in Tech, Design, and Engineering in defining the future of our products, drive forward pillar level data science projects, and coach our IC’s through our most challenging technical initiatives.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead, manage, and grow a team of Data Scientists
  • Build and expand the data science function for a new team, adding to our data stack and analytical capabilities
  • Coach ICs in approaching technical challenges around forecasting and product analytics, and to be effective product data scientists
  • Drive collaboration of mixed quantitative and qualitative work with our insights partners in User Research
  • Contribute to the strategic leadership of the broader B2B Podcast Platform group, and drive partnerships with Product Management, Engineering, and Design
  • Communicate data driven insights and recommendations to key R&D and business stakeholders at the Director and VP levels

Who You Are:

  • You have 2+ years of experience as a people manager leading a team of Data Scientists
  • You are passionate about solving problems in an R&D environment, focusing on impacting our roadmap with long term strategic focus and short term tactical needs
  • You are excited by the challenge of growing a new team and data capability
  • You are an effective communicator. You focus just as much on how you deliver your findings, as you do on the technical craft of uncovering new insights
  • You have a degree in a quantitative field, such as Computer Science/Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics; advanced degree is desirable
  • 5+ years of relevant experience analyzing complex data with SQL and Python
  • Experience building data visualizations and dashboards (e.g. Tableau or similar BI solution)
  • Modeling and statistical knowledge is highly valued (e.g. forecasting, AB-testing, or feature engineering for machine learning)
