As audio has expanded from music to podcasts, audiobooks, and beyond - so has a creator’s ability to monetize and distribute their work. From monthly subscriptions to membership apps, creators are finding new ways to grow their audience - and we want to bring all of this content to Spotify. In the coming years, Spotify will redefine what it means for creators to monetize their work, as well as how listeners discover and gain access to that paid content.

The Audiobooks and Gated Content Vertical is responsible for bringing all the world’s paid audio to Spotify and becoming the ubiquitous destination for its consumption. This is an exciting and impactful new opportunity space for Spotify, and will help craft the platform for years to come.

What you'll do:

  • Define, plan and conduct user research
  • Gain a deep understanding of how our products and platforms influence user behavior, and represent the voice of our users in the product development process
  • Be a strategic partner to product development and marketing teams by delivering insights that inform the problems we choose to seek and shape the future of our roadmaps
  • Exercise your thought leadership and become a go-to specialist for user research in the audiobooks and gated content space
  • Employ a wide range of storytelling techniques to communicate results and recommendations to product and design teams
  • Advise and collaborate with the Business, Strategy and Operations teams in their work to understand the audiobooks and gated content market opportunities. 

Who you are:

  • You have proven experience in research roles in consumer-focused companies with significant expertise in exploratory qualitative research, and specifically identifying people's problems and needs.
  • You hold a degree in Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, Social Science or a related field, and/or relevant professional experience
  • You have proven experience in user research, demonstrating both qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • You can collaborate closely with Data Science and are comfortable with metrics and A/B tests
  • You are comfortable with planning, prioritizing, conducting, analyzing and communicating research including leading research streams in a zero to one space.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills and can strongly communicate with your partners in business, design, engineering and marketing (in English) and enjoy working in a collaborative environment
  • You are a dedicated advocate of a user-centered, evidence-based approach to product development while balancing business needs
  • Experience conducting multi-market international research is preferred
