Job Description

The Yahoo Ads Data and Common Service organization is looking for outstanding research engineers. The ideal candidates must have a strong foundation as well as excellent implementation skills in machine learning/data science. The candidates will have the opportunity to conduct research and implement ML algorithms alongside top scientists/engineers using web-scale data, to make a substantial positive impact on our company and our customers, as well as to potentially contribute to the scientific and open source communities in AI/ML and related areas.

Your responsibilities Include:

• Work with scientists, research engineers, and product managers, dive deep into web-scale data to form an understanding of the business problem; identify, scope and formulate the research problems; design experiments and metrics to measure results; document and communicate the findings.
• Work closely with the engineering partners to convert research prototypes into production codes.
• Provide thought leadership to guide the direction of products and services
• Review state-of-the-art approaches, explore new ones, propose appropriate solutions, publish at internal and top-tier external conferences.

You Must Have: 

• A master/PhD degree focusing on Applied Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, or related fields.
• Expertise in machine learning, NLP, web mining, graph mining or related fields.
• Strong algorithmic problem solving skills, and the ability to implement solutions in Java, Python, or similar.
• Ability to explore data with SQL queries.
• Strong communication, presentation, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work remotely and independently across multiple time zones .

Preferably you also have

• Experience with data science tool sets like
• , Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, etc.
• Experience with deep learning toolsets like TensorFlow, PyTorch, MxNet, ONNX, etc.
• Knowledge of big data tools such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, etc.
• Experience in AWS managed services, particularly in Big Data and Machine Learning
• Prior experience doing research, documented through publications.
