The Consumer Research team at Yahoo has as a direct impact on the quality of various products and services at Yahoo including: Yahoo Mail, Yahoo’s Home Page, Yahoo News, Yahoo Finance, Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Search, Yahoo Advertising, and others. Our team within research engineering provides solutions and technologies in machine learning for recommendation and personalization, information extraction, knowledge graph construction and management.

Responsibilities:

• Expertise in deep learning, ranking, reinforcement/online learning, big data analytics, natural language processing
• Experience in machine learning, information extraction, knowledge management, information retrieval or related field
• Design metrics and experiments to analyze problems and measure results
• Review state-of-the-art approaches, explore new ones, propose appropriate solutions
• Collaborate with engineering teams to put research results into action
• Generate intellectual property with patent applications and publications at relevant forums

A Lot About You:

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Math or related field
• Expertise in deep learning and machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing (NLP)
• Strong understanding of deep learning models and architectures, including transformer-based and generative models
• Familiarity with large-scale data processing, reinforcement/online learning, information extraction
• Hands-on expertise in deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch, with experience in training and optimizing models.
• Solid programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or similar
• Familiarity with data science libraries and tools (Spark, SciKit-Learn, Numpy, Pandas), cloud based AI platforms (e.g. Google Cloud or AWS)

The compensation for this position ranges from $143,625.00 - $299,375.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
