Job Description

The Finance Operations Analytics team at Yahoo is searching for a qualified, passionate, and highly motivated Data/Business Intelligence engineer. We document, design, build, optimize and maintain large volumes of data into information for operational and financial decision making. This opportunity will require the individual to creatively approach problems from an Engineering and Business analytical perspective in order to embrace our complex data ecosystem and deliver automated and scalable solutions in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Driven by your passion for data and your ability to embrace new and existing programming technologies, you will work cross-functionally with a variety of internal stakeholders to define and craft innovative data pipelines and reporting solutions to support data needs across our leading global digital advertising and consumer products.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain high-performance, scalable data pipelines to transform large volumes of data into information for operational and financial decision making
• Perform continuous integration to ensure that every step of a data pipeline is testable and automated
• Propose and implement technical solutions and mentor colleagues
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions
• Assist in building scalable data models to support reporting and tracking of key business and product metrics.
• Understand and anticipate business needs and address issues reported by customers
• Read and synthesize data in order to generate hypotheses, relate back to current business issues, and make recommendations to various levels of management
• Be accountable for your work

Minimum Qualifications:

• Passionate about data and automation
• Basic knowledge of programming languages (Python/R/Java)
• Intermediate knowledge of SQL (Vertica/Postgres/Oracle/AWS Redshift/MySQL)
• Experience with Unix/Linux environment
• Experience with ETL workflow processes and tools
• Experience creating and maintaining data pipelines
• Experience working on data-driven products
• Ability to communicate effectively with partners and stakeholders, helping and educating others to become independent consumers of data.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong time management and prioritization skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Familiar with Business Intelligence tools (Looker, MicroStrategy, Tableau)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering preferred
• Prior experience in a related analytics or developer role, digital advertising, or media experience
• Experience with Airflow
• Experience with Hadoop/Hive/Hbase/Pig/Spark
