A Lot About You
As a member of the US Commerce Data Science team, the Principal Research Engineer will play a critical role in innovating and exploring use cases, resolving problems in creative and flexible ways, and building and enhancing recommender models, search ranking, and data pipelines. You can work on novel machine learning technologies, real-life web-scale challenges, unique e-commerce domain, and complex challenges with top-notch engineers. You have access to the internet-scale amount of data and powerful Hadoop/Spark clusters that consist of thousands of computing nodes. What you do will meaningfully contribute to the bigger success of the company.
This role will work seamlessly with product managers and engineers around the world to enrich user experience from data-driven approaches, such as machine learning, information retrieval, and statistics. You will be a major problem-solver, model designer, and service contributor to resolving obstacles and supporting product requirements in analytical, practical, realistic, and agile ways. You will code in Java/Scala/Python on the Unix platform to build recommender applications that handle a massive scale of data within milliseconds.
