We are offering an outstanding opportunity for a Data Scientist with expertise in Digital Endpoints, Digital Clinical Outcome Assessments, Digital Biomarkers and Sensor Data Analytics as well as their applications in clinical drug development. You will work with multidisciplinary teams of scientists across departments in the organization dedicated to researching methods for the analysis of data and using these methods to actively drive science and jointly shape our future portfolio. Your Impact

These responsibilities capture a portion of what your work will look like:

  • Co-create the sensor-based data collection, analysis and measurement development strategies for clinical drug development programs and therapy areas, with a focus on digital endpoints, digital clinical outcome assessments, and digital biomarkers
  • Drive the implementation of these strategies in and across clinical studies from a sensor data analytics perspective
  • Devise and implement science and methodology development strategies to unlock the full potential for data using established and novel sensor data processing and statistical methodologies accompanied by state-of-the-art machine learning and artificial intelligence approaches
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in clinical drug programs and data scientists across the organization to co-develop statistical analysis plans, contribute to drug efficacy analyses, and impact decision making
  • Explore emerging and state-of-the-art technologies; proactively identify, assess, and internalize promising methods and tools from external vendors and the public domain.
  • Build collaborations with Roche-internal functions and external partners, and with a wide range of data scientists, researchers, clinicians and internal IT specialists
  • Provide guidance for others within your domain of expertise, explore novel data sets and methodologies, and participate in strategy discussions.
  • Co-author scientific publications and posters; represent Roche at relevant conferences

Your Profile

Qualifications:

You hold a university degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Informatics, Statistics, or related field with significant experience in the pharmaceutical and digital health industry leading data analytics and digital sensor processing vision, strategy, and efforts.

Moreover, you have extensive professional experience with analyzing sensor data, in the following domains:

Feature engineering/algorithm development for at least one of the following sensor and/or time-series data types, Vital signs (required), Biomechanics (including gait & motor), Audio, Cognitive tests, Statistical analysis, Measurement validation analyses (e.g. for establishing psychometric properties), Longitudinal modeling (e.g. for studying treatment effects), Application of digital measures in drug development programs (e.g.In PhI-IV trials, as exploratory/secondary /primary endpoints, as screening or safety measures).

  • Experience in shaping sustainable collaborations with stakeholders in drug development programs
  • Relevant background and disease area expertise, e.g. oncology, neuroscience, bioinformatics, biomedical engineering, neurodegenerative diseases, movement disorders, etc.
  • You are a quick learner, inspired by curiosity, who enjoys entering into new areas to build expertise and courageously and creatively takes initiative to see your ideas implemented through team work in a dynamic customer oriented environment.
  • Your profile is rounded off by having very good presentation and communication skills in English.
