Job Description

Are you a DevOps specialist who is interested in providing next generation diagnostic algorithms using cutting edge data science? We are looking for someone to join the chapter Biostatistics & Data Science with >100 colleagues, who are statisticians, physicists, mathematicians, bioinformaticians and give them the best computing environment and help them develop their applications.

You would be working on defining, building and optimizing computing environments to support data science for a broad range of diagnostic modalities, both, internally and in external cloud environments. In addition you would support custom application development and ongoing operations.

What will your daily tasks look like:

• Drive the continuous improvement of our technology infrastructure through innovative solutions while ensuring reliability and robustness
• Create continuous deployment pipelines to deploy the tools and applications as Docker containers.
• Design and continuously optimize our computing environment to support our data science applications (e.g. R, Python, web-applications, etc.)
• Manage our Linux servers and network configurations
• Make sure that everything is tested and validated
• Contribute to a fun and collaborative work environment

What profile are we looking for?

• You hold a degree in computer science, bioinformatics, mathematics, statistics or a comparable qualification
• You are an expert in R, R/shiny, and R-server
• You have experience in other data science languages, e.g. Python or similar
• You have hands-on experience with web-technologies (HTML/CSS/jQuery), XML, Linux- and web-server configuration
• You are familiar with the use and the setup of SQL and NoSQL databases
• You have extensive experience with standard methods of software development, like version control and change-management
• You have experience with CI/CD pipelines in the context of continuous deployment
• You are an effective communicator in English, both in written and spoken form
• You enjoy working in (interdisciplinary) teams

It would be great if you also have:

• Experience with cloud-solutions in MS Azure and/or Amazon Web Services
• Experience with development, testing, and validation of software in the GxP environment
• Basic German language skills
• Knowledge of biostatistics, applied mathematics or in a similar field
