This position is a part of the collaboration between the Data & Analytics and Oncology departments within pRED, and the Helmholtz Zentrum in Munich. It is located in the Roche Innovation Center Zurich, where data scientists collaborate with global scientists to make use of a wide variety of data types from the vast amount of in-house preclinical and clinical study and public data to maximize the learning of disease progression and drug response to enable the creation of transformative medicines for patients. 

Job mission

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a talented data scientist to utilize public and in-house single-cell and bulk sequencing data for answering questions in the context of cancer immunotherapy, in particular to better characterize recently discovered immune cell subsets and their role in the response to cancer immunotherapies.

Your impact

  • Identifying cell subsets and molecular mechanisms underlying response in cancer immunotherapy by efficiently combining available molecular data sources, and interpreting analysis results using molecular cancer immunology knowledge. Translating the learnings into accelerating drug discovery and development to bring novel medicines to the bedside. 
  • Presenting your work internally and at conferences, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

Your profile

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist who graduated in the last three years and has the following expertise:

  • You have a keen interest in building a deep understanding of cancer immunotherapy and translating the knowledge into breakthrough medicines for patients. 
  • You are an effective collaborator with a Ph.D. in biology- or data-related sciences such as Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biomedicine, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics or related disciplines. 
  • Knowledge and experience in cancer biology or immunology 
  • You are proficient in quantitative analytical skills and in analysis programming languages like Python or R 
  • Experience in single-cell data analysis is highly desired
  • Applied machine learning expertise is a plus
  • You are also a creative self-motivated individual with excellent verbal communication skills.
