Position Summary

Warner Bros. Discovery is looking for a Risk Analyst, Global Payment Operations and Risk Management within the Global Product and Design department. As the Risk Analyst, you will play a critical role in evolving and developing the analytics and reporting workstream in APAC . These efforts will support payment health of the region, and will aid in the prevention of direct to consumer ecommerce payments risk for Warner Bros Studio Tours Tokyo (Harry Potter) and other subscription payments fraud / policy abuse for other WBD brands/products such as HBO Max. You will support and evolve the processes used to prevent, detect and respond to payments fraud, chargebacks and payment authorization challenges. This role will be a key strategic position to expand, centralize and optimize our analytics capabilities for global risk prevention and mitigation efforts across a portfolio of brands/products within WBD. You will support the ongoing development and implementation of standardized risk prevention capabilities across these brands and help the team expand into new direct to consumer card not present environments. You will work closely and collaborate with other members of the Global Payment Operations and Risk team, Engineering, Security and local market teams to actively ensure that fraud prevention and payments strategies are honed and refined as the market landscape evolves. The primary goals of this position are to continuously work to evolve the global payments fraud program to drive revenue, mitigate losses, optimize operations and protect the customer experience.

A successful person in this role will have a strong background in payments and payments risk prevention at large global brands and is comfortable with the day to day management of complex fraud and payments analytics strategies. Strong project management, problem solving and initiative taking skills will be expected of this candidate. They will communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally. They will build effective and productive relationships by fostering trust and communicating clearly. They will be organized, have a bias to act quickly, enjoy diving into details and data, and be curious to learn all facets of the portfolio of products. They will also be bold to advise leadership on what can be improved, what the team needs to thrive, and what activities should be prioritized.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the initiatives of a highly collaborative cross-functional team to aid in the planning, development and design of strategy from new program initiation through operationalization.
  • Partner extensively with the Data Intelligence team to identify areas of needed fraud analytics/reporting, metrics and KPIs to evaluate the overall billing health of the company and effectiveness of payments programs.
  • Build fraud detection, identification and performance analytics dashboards.
  • Partner with the team's APAC Risk Manager to monitor transactions and adapt models following customer trends and patterns.
  • Perform investigative analytics and ad-hoc analysis on identified fraudulent activity in order to optimize risk prevention capabilities at time of purchase.
  • Manage all data activities with the chargeback representment and prevention processes.
  • Internal point of contact for payments and risk analytics related topics for the Tokyo tour and WBD APAC businesses, provide all necessary data support for the Manager and business partners in the region.
  • Support the safeguarding of the payment ecosystem; identifying, researching and implementing fraud risk management strategies that reduce false positives, improve payment acceptance, and encourage subscriber retention/growth.
  • Excellent communication in Japanese, Business level or above in English

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics/science, computer science, management information systems, business or related fields.
  • 2+ years of experience in the fraud management and payments industry, bonus points if within a media or digital subscription company.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills. Ability to conduct root cause analysis and narrow in on areas of opportunity. SQL and data visualization experience is a must have, Python/R or similar programming languages are nice to have.
  • Understands the entirety of the transaction processing lifecycle and the role risk management plays
  • Technical understanding and keen interest in how fraud works within digital technologies, different methods of fraud and familiarity with current fraud detection and prevention technologies & vendors.
  • Strong experience with supporting major product and strategic development initiatives for a global organization.
  • Solid understanding of fraud and security as it relates to digital products & services, as well as an external solutions merchant and/or acquiring business, and payments processing.
  • Hands on, proactive and willing to be immersed in all aspects of WBD / HBO Max product and operational functions to support fraud mandates.
  • Demonstrated success building relationships and delivering results with internal stakeholders as well as global, multi-cultural and remote project teams.
  • Proven expertise in building winning business cases, translating them into stories to gain approval, and delivering strong P&L results.
  • Strong track record of synthesizing products and services from multiple functional areas into value propositions that align with regional or local customer needs.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high-degree of follow-through.
  • A love of working closely with others to empower them to excel.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn.
