Your New Role..

As a member of the Customer Data Science team, you’ll collaborate with teammates to develop, action on, productionalize, and test statistical and machine learning models to inform and boost customer acquisition, engagement, and retention for our digital products (e.g., HBO Max, Discovery+, etc.). Team initiatives may include but are not limited to defining North Star metrics for product evaluation; identifying High Value Actions in the customer space; building audience/customer engagement & health segments; developing propensity models (e.g., sign-ups/acquisition, engagement, retention, winbacks); and building causal/uplift models (e.g., next best action).

In particular, this position will play a key role supporting AI/ML development, testing & experimentation methodology development, and MLOps tied to our digital products. Reporting to the Customer Data Science Director, a key focus of this position will be to ensure we are closely aligned with our partners in developing insightful & actionable AI/ML, sound testing & experimentation standards, and scalable architecture for AI/ML deployment. The successful candidate will be able to thoughtfully apply AI/ML methodologies to drive engagement and retention, collaborate across teammates to provide guidance on testing experimentation, and communicate insights to technical and non-technical audiences to encourage action and continued engagement.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Participate in cross-functional strategic ideation, planning, and roadmapping discussions across relevant data, product, engineering, technology, and other cross-functional business partners
  • Apply data mining techniques to cleanse and explore large data sets
  • Develop, validate, and operationalize sound mathematical models, with an eye toward extensible design and deployment, repeatable processes, and scalable products
  • Orchestrate and integrate services and components into pipelines, including the tooling for data and model monitoring in an environment with a range for first- and third- party data sources
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of our Data Science tech stack as team and projects scale
  • Prepare and communicate insights to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Stay current with new data science methods, technologies, and industry trends
  • Help develop guiding principles, frameworks, processes, and best practices for our growing team

Qualifications & Experience…

  • ** BS or Master’s degree in a quantitative or computational field, with preference for candidates with strong backgrounds in statistics/applied math, technology, or social science
  • ** Minimum of 3+ years relevant work experience
  • ** Advanced understanding of statistical and causal inference, probabilistic modeling, clustering, deep learning frameworks, experimental design & methodology
  • ** Experience developing, implementing, and deploying ML/AI models and tests/experiments at scale
  • Applied experience related to customer/audience segmentation, churn prediction, A/B and multi-armed bandit testing, personalization, natural language processing
  • Experience with AWS, SQL and NoSQL cloud-based data stores, Python, and Apache Spark
  • Experience with data workflow managers like Luigi, Glue, or Airflow in AWS, integrating ML solutions into workflows that begin with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, both technical and non-technical
  • Experience with subscription-based business models, advertising-based business models, and/or marketing, especially in media, is highly desirable
  • Must have the legal right to work in the U.S.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be performed in New York City. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $117,600.00 - $218,400.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
