About the Group:

Technology Acceleration and Commercialization organization focuses on growing our battery technology reach and access globally in all battery tech segments to ensure GM is in a leading position in chemistry and cell design through investment, collaborations, and partnerships. Within this group, TRP Diagnostics and Prognostics – ALGOLiON focus is developing and releasing the Earliest warning battery hazard detection and prevention software . The group uses ALGOLiON (formerly Israel-based battery software startup and today integral part of GM-Israel) novel algorithms which take data streams from battery management systems to identify anomalies in battery cell performance that may impact the performance of a battery pack or the safety of a vehicle

About the role:

We are looking for a scientist, with expertise in electrochemistry and batteries, for developing ALGOLiON novel algorithms and related deliveries.

What will YOU do:

  • Contribute to the improvement of existing batteries data analysis methodologies and propose novel approaches to enhance data processing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Analyze and interpret batteries and BMS data, identifying trends, anomalies, and correlations.
  • Develop battery modeling and simulation tools.
  • Analyze and report on requirements for new technologies.
  • Assist in analyzing customer and company test data, including writing reports.
  • Assist in writing and editing algorithms and test manuals.
  • Work with global teams (Mostly Israel and USA) for achieving results.
  • Keep safety a priority and improve safety of GM electric vehicles in the field of electric batteries.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in Electrochemistry and Li-ion Batteries.
  • Over 4 years industry experience.
  • Data analytics background in the domain of electrochemical processes or battery technologies.
  • Experience in analyzing large data sets, especially EV / automotive data.
  • Knowledge in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
  • Strong understanding of electrochemical principles and familiarity with various battery testing techniques.
  • Familiarity with battery modeling and simulation tools.
