Job Description

Note: This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work remotely, but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to live a commutable distance to the innovation center they are selected for. Relocation will be provided as needed.

FOR GM INTERNAL CANDIDATES: This role is posted at both 6th and 7th level. The determination by HR and the Hiring Manager as to whether an offer will be lateral or promotional will be based on a candidate's relevant experience and whether the role will amount to a significant increase in level of responsibility.

As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for applying data science and modeling techniques to tackle complex business problems. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about data science, and a willingness to lead the transformation of GM’s core business processes through the application of big data and analytics. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help GM in its vision to revolutionize the future of mobility.

Additional Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Build predictive models and machine-learning solutions to solve business challenges
• Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns
• Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data
• Productionize analytical models
• Monitor and sustain model effectiveness
• Present complex information using data visualization techniques
• Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges that drive business impact

REQUIREMENTS:

• At least 3 or more years proficiency in one or more core analytical tools / suites / languages such as Python, R, Spark, Scala and understand their limitations
• Proficient in one or more analytical methodologies such as numerical optimization, econometric modeling and forecasting, machine learning, Bayesian statistics, game theory, agent-based simulation, text analytics, and computer vision / pattern recognition

Nice to have skills:

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, containerization
• Experience with Hadoop and/or SQL
