Job Description

We are seeking a Data Scientist responsible for capturing information from a variety of sources inside and outside GM, building and running empirical data science models, interpreting results for motorsports, collaborating with motorsports teams in Charlotte, NC, and enabling the transfer of knowledge from motorsports to GM data science models. This position offers a career in the fast-paced and exciting environment of data science and analysis at General Motors, with specific focus in Motorsports. You will work with innovative testing and analytical technologies to review telemetry data to virtually integrate vehicle and human performance to enable various applications - running both in offline and real-time simulation environments.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Data Analysis of multiple telemetry data sources
  • Maintenance and investigation of current data science models
  • Creation of new data science models
  • Develop extensive enhancements to advance tools and methods
  • Support integration of tire models with real-time simulation environments

Additional Description

Required:

  • BS in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or Mathematical field
  • 5+ years of relevant data science experience
  • Detailed knowledge of AI and machine learning methods
  • Strong programming skill
  • Proven Project Management skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed
  • Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

  • General knowledge of race series that GM participates in including but not limited to NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA, and NHRA
  • Python, SQL, Matlab programming experience
  • NLP, Deep Learning, and Neural network experience
