THE ROLE

AMD is looking for a Field Application Engineer as part of the EMEA Embedded Sales team working as a specialist on AI and Machine Learning algorithms and related AMD hardware architectures. In this role you will interact on these aspects directly with customers for pre-and post-sales support and provide technical expertise to customers & technical field sales. This includes providing training, demos, and technical implementation proposals. You will be working in a broad area, to support heterogeneous systems consisting of AI-Engine processors, ARM/x86 processors and FPGA/GPU.

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate should be passionate about software algorithm implementation, have knowledge of hardware architectures, compilers, dataflow analysis, AI / ML, and possess communication and leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different AMD teams across geographies and time zones.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of the Embedded Sales team, you will collaborate closely with customers at system level to drive them towards efficient and effective solutions with AMD products using best of class development flows and methodologies targeting AI-Engines for AI / ML application domains spanning Automotive, Test & Measurement, Industrial, etc.
This role includes working with related AMD technical marketing teams to evolve as an AI / ML expert on AI-Engines implementations and help drive the evolution of tools and features for current and future AI-Engine processor families.

JOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:

• Machine Learning and AI Fundamentals: Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, neural networks, deep learning architectures, and the ability to explain these concepts.
• Familiarity with Deep Learning Frameworks: Experience with popular deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras, and the ability to optimize models for embedded deployment.
• Model Quantization: Understanding of model quantization techniques to reduce model size and memory footprint while maintaining acceptable performance.
• Programming Languages: Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in embedded systems, such as C/C++ and Python.
• Hardware and Software Integration: Experience in integrating machine learning models with related tool flow(s) using hardware accelerators, co-processors, and microcontrollers.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address challenges related to deploying AI on embedded systems.
• Customer Service Orientation: A customer-centric approach with a focus on understanding and meeting customer needs.
• Documentation Skills: Documentation of code, solution proposals and how-to tutorials for both internal teams and customers.
• Team player Skills: Proven ability to work with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams with “can do” attitude.
• Communication Skills: Fluent in the English language with good written and verbal communication / presentations skills.
• Continuous Learning: A willingness to stay updated with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and embedded systems.
• Other Skills: Must be a hands-on person who takes initiative and is self-motivated with willingness to travel in Europe and to the US (up to 40%).

NICE TO HAVE:

• Embedded Systems: Knowledge of embedded systems design, architecture, and programming. Understanding of hardware constraints, real-time processing, and memory management in embedded environments.
• Heterogeneous systems: Knowledge of heterogeneous systems consisting of AI-Engine processors, ARM/x86 processors and/or FPGA/GPU.
• Knowledge of Linux: Kernel environment, code development and scripting skills.
• Optimization Techniques: Knowledge of optimization techniques to ensure AI algorithms run efficiently on resource-constrained embedded devices.
• Deployment and Inference: Experience with deploying machine learning models on embedded devices and optimizing the inference process for real-time performance.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
