We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team as the Assistant Vice President Data Scientist, Credit Risk Modeler, you will play a vital role in the measurement and assessment of financial and non-financial risks for the bank. You will develop sophisticated models to provide analytical solutions and tools to quantify key risk metrics.

As our Assistent Vice President Data Scientist, Credit Risk Modeler you will:

  • Support wider team effort to meet regulatory and financial reporting obligations
  • Support wider team effort on model development and implementation
  • Support ad-hoc analyses to support business and other stakeholder requirements
  • Develop and enhance methodologies and models for credit risk assessment

For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $100,000.00 and $150,000.00.

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • MSc or PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, engineering, statistics, economics, data science)
  • 2-3 years of experience of developing predictive models leveraging statistical and (or) machine learning methods to solve complex business problems, credit risk modelling experience is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience across broad range of analytics platforms, languages, and tools (Python, R, SQL, Spark)
  • Knowledge of credit risk and portfolio management, wholesale credit & lending business and products
  • Demonstrable experience in execution of modelling projects aligned with regulatory expectations and industry practices
  • Relevant professional work experience in a bank, rating agency, consultancy, or advisory firm is a plus
