Job Description

  • The Project Management Office leads the change governance for all of the Legal Change portoflio, including documentation and governance for The Legal Design Authority Meeting, The Legal Portfolio Steering Committee and ensuring all projects / programmes adhere to the correct standards.
  • Project Management Officers are responsible for deploying and overseeing the Programme Management framework and other Change Frameworks across Legal Change and instilling good programme disciplines within their programme and the HSBC Group.
  • The role holder has end to end responsibility for all aspects of the programme office, including definition, controlling, execution, change management and implementation. They work closely with Programme Managers and the Global Legal teams to ensure alignment of their programme with the wider change portfolio and the Group Strategy, Values and Behaviours.
  • Alongside the Legal programme delivery responsibilities, the Project Management Officer will ensure that adherance to firm-wide standards are completed and all audit requirements, budgetary requirements MSII’s and technology standards are met.
  • The Project Management Officer will also set-up and run the governance for location moves within the department, starting locally but building a framework in a robust and repeatable way.
  • The Project Management Officer establish relationships with stakeholders to help them overcome barriers to change. They are an experienced leader and must able to identify gaps and recommend interventions to assist with risk and issue resolution and interlock dependencies (whilst tracking and reporting transparently).
  • They should possess exceptional communication, analytical and organisational skills and must be able to assist stakeholders in handling changing environments and priorities. They must also be able to develop creative solutions to overcome organisational challenges and demonstrate deep business acumen in facilitating business transformation.
  • This role supports stakeholders, Project Management Lead and the change community to produce schedule and budget status report data and to assist with more administrative portfolios schedules, costs, resources monitoring and reporting.

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Lead change and innovation initiatives in the Legal function, both digital and non-digital
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation
  • Develop business cases and project plans for initiatives, including timelines, budgets, and resource requirements
  • Work with cross-functional teams to execute initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives
  • Monitor and report on project progress, including risks and issues, and take corrective action as needed
  • Ensure adoption and sustainability of change through effective communication, training, and support

Requirements

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and share best practices across the organization
  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in the Legal function
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis and project management, including experience leading change and innovation initiatives
  • Experience in the Legal function of a bank or financial institution preferred (but not mandatory)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in project management tools and methodologies
  • Understanding of legal processes and systems preferred (but not mandatory)
  • Experience with digital technologies, such as AI, machine learning, and automation, preferred
  • Experience with change management methodologies preferred
