Job Description

The role of a chief data scientist is to provide strategic leadership and guidance in the areas of data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. This can help to identify potential instances of fraud, money laundering, and other financial crimes, and enable the HSBC to take proactive measures to prevent them.

• Provide strategic leadership and guidance in the areas of data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning
• Develop and implement data science strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives
• Build and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders to stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices
• Develop and implement ML Model governance policies and procedures to ensure model quality, fairness and explainability
• Stay up-to-date on research and emerging data science technologies and tools, artificial intelligence and machine learning and evaluate their potential impact on the organization's data & AI strategy. Apply knowledge to the bank’s data science efforts
• Develop and implement data science training programs for employees across the organization
• Set group model governance policies to ensure that all models developed by the bank adhere to a consistent set of standards and guidelines
• Develop best practices for AIML engineering to ensure that the bank is using the most effective and efficient methods for developing and deploying AI and ML models
• Conduct research on graph and network theory for financial crime to identify potential instances of fraud, money laundering, and other financial crimes

Requirements

Strong knowledge of knowledge graph or network theory research

• Strong research background in banking AI/ML domain
• Hands on experience with LLM online and offline model and ML framework like MLflow
• Proven track record of delivering ML models
• Comprehensive experience in model review and monitoring
• Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within multiple disciplines or a fast changing discipline
• Management responsibility of multiple teams, through subordinate managers, with accountability for independent budgets
